The Russians are invading Russia!! Russian government pissed off Russian mercs who were winning their battles for them.

Putin is scared. He compared this to the revolution in 1917. If it ends the same way it's gonna end with people wondering what they did with his corpse.

Honestly, I'm just glad to see this happen for Ukraine's sake, mainly. It splinters Russia's attention which means most if not all is pulled internal. This allows Ukraine to rebuild and fortify, and it even has some nice knock-on effects where places like the US won't have election interference as much - or at all - from Russia.

Ukraine is using this to retake territory lost in 2014. Putin is fucked, but I'm curious what happens when Wagner takes control of Russian nukes.

I don't think a lot will happen. Even the most insane dictators realize that by using nukes, you ensure the destruction of basically everyone. The whole MAD principle and all.

Not sure the video link will work but I saw this and thought I'd share.

The only person I'm worried about with nukes is honestly Putin. I don't think he cares if he lives or dies as long as he gets to feel like a tzar for a while.

I don't think the Wagner group will be much of a global threat if they take power. Because even if everyone stands down to let them kill Putin, the oligarchs won't give up power without a fight, so no matter who wins this, Russia's gonna lose enough equipment and trained soldiers in the process that they won't be able to invade anyone.

I think it's likely that Russia will balkanize. At which point they're no longer relevant and the real threat is that China might invade Siberia for their oil.

He just spoke up claiming that's not true. He didn't agree to any form of deescalation. He's waiting for reinforcements. And we have reports that Wagner group is pulling their people out of the Middle East, so that is consistent.
