I'm still on Tumblr, and I have mixed feelings about the internet splitting again. On the one hand, I think the fact it congregated on about 5 websites was a bad thing, and created schisms that wouldn't exist. Splitting up again is going to allow things to be just... better? idk. On the other hand, internet historians and archivists are panicking because we're losing information in real-time, and it was also exceptionally convenient.

Discord is about the only thing I don't forget; I've had long hiatuses on Tumblr when I forget its existence. So I'm sure I'll forget about this forum eventually too, it's only a matter of time. And then I'll probably remember it and come back  ;D

I have to say that the decentralization that's happening now does look pretty bleak and will really require us as communities to work together on things to alleviate the problem. For example, I use an RSS aggregator to track multiple forums at this point (since at least the big name forums have built in RSS feeds) as well as blogs and some news sites. But it's not the end-all-be-all answer - I don't know what is, but it's that sort of interoperability that we need to work for.

Is ActivityPub (Mastodon/Lemmy/Kbin/etc.) the answer? Maybe; I don't know. But at least it's an attempt...

General Discussion / Re: Introductions
Last post by Shiloh (Bee System) - Jun 20, 2023, 04:46 PM
Allo, I'm Shiloh. I'm part of a system (Currently our name is "Bee System" but we're not sold on it, and have changed it a couple of times before). Zuri and Enigma may show up, too; Enigma may make her own account, as that's what she prefers to do.

I'm nonbinary and use they/them or ne/nem pronouns (Ne likes to wear nir favorite shirt frequently; it's gotten a little worn on nem). Zuri considers himself a transman and a femboy twink (he felt this was very important to share, so y'know) and uses he/him pronouns. Enigma uses she/her and considers herself a cis woman. We also have Nisa, who uses she/her pronouns, but Nisa is a grumpy, antisocial tiger. We'll talk about her but the chances of her showing up are very low.

Uhh, I'm a writer! Primarily a poet, but I write fantasy stuff too. I have a published poetry book and am in a few anthologies. I roleplay, too.

I'm otherkin and fictionkin. I'm a cat. =^.^=

I'm also extremely socially anxious. I have a variety of disorders that make things Difficult(tm) for me, so it took me a while to get around to posting lol.

The flower on my avatar is something I draw a LOT, and Zuri wanted a knife in the avatar too, so I doodled that real quickly xD I don't have much artistic talent, but I can doodle a few things decently, and I like editing graphics to make fun things. I also like coding things. Pretty things make me happy.

This is long enough, so. Uh. Hi! XD

Roleplaying / OWOD Garou
Last post by Rhoenne - Jun 20, 2023, 01:17 AM
So, I've been playing World of Darkness for over ten years now and I have found that the Garou are my favorite of the various spheres.  I enjoy most of their lore and the way the clans and auspices are set up mostly make sense to me.

I was curious what others might think of the various aspects and clans and all that of the Garou from Old World of Darkness, such as Revised and 20th.  I wasn't a fan of the Nwod Garou.

The whole thought that someone might be born who is part spirit who is able to transform and embody the wrath of Gaia herself is interesting to me.  Granted, the first change is rather tragic for the vast majority of the new cubs but after that, you would have a whole new world opened to you.  I think they did well with the various tribes as well and people can almost always find one that might resonate a bit with them.

Anyways, I was wondering what people thought of the Garou?  Is there a particular tribe you preferred?  And Auspice that resonated with you?  Or lore that you particularly liked?

Good luck. I'm working on a ground up website overhaul to get it to do what I want.

I spent my evening yesterday reading, which was much nicer than doomscrolling for sure. Some of this is also just my depression cycling out I think, fingers crossed I can keep it up and not burn out being too excited about having spoons?

Quote from: Arthfach on Jun 18, 2023, 02:19 AMI set up an RSS aggregator - I think you have access to it, Dove - and that's how I'm getting all my news.

Yep! I just have to decide what to put on it.
